Program overview

The Natural Resources Engineering graduate program leverages Sudbury’s status as a global center for mining technology, environmental remediation, and resource management research. Students study advanced resource management processes by capitalizing on Laurentian’s expertise across mining, environmental, mechanical, and mechatronic engineering.

Located amidst major industrial operations (including Vale, Glencore, and Kidd Creek) and the region celebrated for the “Sudbury Protocol” ecological recovery, the program serves as a natural laboratory. Students gain specialized expertise in environmental impact assessment, mine site rehabilitation, ecological recovery, and modern engineering solutions for the resource sector.
