Program overview
This French-language concurrent dual-degree pathway combines the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) in Outdoor Adventure Leadership with a Concurrent Bachelor of Education (B.Éd.):
-
Outdoor Adventure Leadership (BPHE): Focuses on outdoor leadership, guiding, and instruction in diverse and remote environments. As one of Canada’s longest-standing outdoor leadership programs, students gain extensive practical experience and earn provincially and nationally recognized technical certifications in canoe tripping, river rescue, sea kayaking, rock climbing, and wilderness first aid.
-
Concurrent Education (B.Éd.): Integrated with the 4-year undergraduate degree over a 5-year period. Students complete education coursework, attend specialized workshops, and participate in practical teaching placements with schools and community organizations (e.g., Frontier College, YMCA, Better Beginnings Better Futures, and the Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury).
-
Teaching Streams Available: Primary / Junior (JK – Grade 6) or Junior / Intermediate (Grades 4 – 10).
-
Flexibility: Students who choose not to proceed into the final professional year can still graduate with their 4-year undergraduate degree.
