Program overview
The Architectural Engineering Technology program provides specialized technical education in building design, structural engineering principles, and construction management:
-
Common Engineering First Year: Features a common initial year where students complete their first two semesters before transitioning (from Gander campus to Ridge Road campus) to complete the Intersession and remaining upper-year requirements.
-
Drafting & Documentation: Prepares complete sets of architectural drawings and technical documentation for residential and commercial construction or renovation projects.
-
Building Science Application: Applies principles of building science and construction engineering to analyze and solve technical problems throughout project lifecycles.
-
System Integration: Analyzes and coordinates the relationships between architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental building systems.
-
Project Management & Compliance: Employs project management techniques for planning, scheduling, and monitoring development while ensuring strict adherence to building codes, zoning bylaws, and municipal regulations.
-
Professional Communication: Fosters effective technical communication with clients, contractors, building professionals, and municipal regulatory authorities.
