Program overview

The Power Engineering Techniques – 3rd Class one-year (three-term) Ontario College Certificate program builds upon the foundational power plant operation and maintenance knowledge gained at the 4th Class level. The curriculum focuses on the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-pressure industrial boilers, refrigeration systems, prime movers, and auxiliary power plant equipment used across industrial and power-generation facilities.

Instruction adheres to the Standardized Power Engineers Examination Committee (SOPEEC) syllabus. Successful completion equips students with the technical and practical competencies needed to challenge the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) examinations for 3rd Class Power Engineer certification.
