Program overview
The Instrumentation and Control Technician (Red Seal) program provides technical training in process control, automation, and precise industrial measurement systems:
-
Core Technical Duties: Focuses on repairing, maintaining, calibrating, adjusting, and installing industrial measuring and controlling instruments to ensure plant machinery operates safely and efficiently.
-
Complex System Scope: Covers process control systems used across major industrial sectors, including oil and gas, chemical processing, food manufacturing, and pulp and paper facilities.
-
Environmental & Operational Control: Trains students to regulate water flow, monitor air quality, read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and engineering blueprints, and conduct preventive maintenance schedules.
-
Diagnostics & Safety: Teaches fault diagnosis, component repair, maintenance reporting, safe repair procedures, and adherence to strict regulatory standards.
-
Red Seal Certification Pathway: Aligns with national Red Seal standards to prepare students for interprovincial trade certification, enabling career mobility and journeyperson status across Canada.
