Job description
- Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication machines such as shears, press brakes, punch presses, roll formers, CNC plasma/laser cutters, and seaming and beading machines
- Read work orders, shop drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances and machine settings
- Load galvanized steel, aluminum and stainless steel sheets and coils into machines, manually or with hoists and forklifts
- Cut, bend, form, punch and seam metal to produce ducts, elbows, transitions, fittings and other HVAC components
- Measure and inspect finished parts using tape measures, calipers and squares to confirm they meet specifications
- Adjust machine settings and replace dies, blades and tooling as needed
- Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication and minor adjustments, and report malfunctions to the supervisor
- Label, sort, stack and stage finished parts for assembly or shipping
- Keep production records, including quantities, scrap and downtime
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE use
- Keep the work area clean and organized
