Program overview

The Paralegal graduate certificate program is a Law Society of Ontario (LSO)-accredited, three-semester program designed to meet the growing demand for affordable legal services. The curriculum covers permitted areas of paralegal practice, including summary conviction criminal offenses, traffic violations, provincial/municipal offenses, administrative tribunals, and Ontario Small Claims Courts. Coursework incorporates lectures, practice management, mock trials, and experiential learning. In the third semester, students participate in a mandatory two-day-per-week field placement at established law and paralegal firms to gain direct work experience and build professional networks.

Successful completion makes graduates eligible to write the Law Society’s Paralegal licensing examination to practice as a licensed paralegal in Ontario.
