Program overview
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program prepares students to deliver person-centered care across the lifespan as members of interprofessional healthcare teams in long-term care, community, and hospital environments. Students learn to assist clients with daily living activities—including personal care, home management, and nutrition—while maintaining a safe environment for those with responsive behaviors, injury risks, or end-of-life care needs. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experiential learning, including access to the Living Classroom model, which integrates classroom study with real-life experiences in long-term care and retirement settings. Graduates also earn provincially recognized certificates in specialized care areas.
