Program overview
The Earth Sciences program housed at the Harquail School of Earth Sciences—a leading Canadian institution in economic geology research and funding—prepares students for careers as professional geoscientists exploring 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history.
Students study the discovery of raw materials required for technology-driven industries, as well as natural phenomena including volcanoes, earthquakes, planetary evolution, tectonics, and climate change. The curriculum covers key fields such as mineralogy, igneous and metamorphic petrology, structural geology, geophysics, geochemistry, oceanography, paleontology, sedimentology, hydrogeology, and planetary geology.
